Darrin Robinson
Emerge Inc. was founded by Darrin Robinson, who has been involved in the fitness industry for well over a decade. He has seen many sides of the industry from being a fitness buff, fitness model, associate editor of an international fitness magazine, author of training and nutritional cooking articles read world wide as well as one of Canada’s most successful trainers involved in the success of over 1000 clients.
The Emerge principles are founded through Darrin’s own transformation. Darrin spent years trying many different diet and training approaches, recording a daily journal keeping track of everything from body compositions to energy levels. Darrin threw out the approaches that didn’t work or were too extreme to become a lifestyle and refined the approaches that yielded the fastest results but could be used and maintained by the average person. It took six years before Darrin finally come up with the Emerge Lifestyle approach to training and nutrition. At this point his physique reached a new level and inspired others to see him for help with their own transformation.
Darrin became certified as a trainer in the late nineties to continue to learn more as well as start to train people as a fitness professional. Darrin then left his corporate job and starting training people full time for Canada’s largest chain of health clubs. This was the best way to gain experience with a variety of client in a short amount of time. Darrin quickly became the most successful and sought after trainer in the company’s 27 year history.
Even though Darrin enjoyed working for the health club chain and eventually became Fitness Manager and trained and managed a team of 20 trainers he wanted more. His vision of what training should be was far grander than anything he could do within the walls of this large corporation. In the fall of 2006 Darrin decided to leave his present job and open Emerge Lifestyle & Fitness Training. Now his dream has been brought to life, to provide a training facility that covers every aspect of looking and feeling your best.
He still writes fitness and nutritional cooking articles and receives emails from people around the world asking for help with their training or diet. Darrin continues to look into other avenues to reach and help more people look and feel their best and will for some time.
Darrin’s Transformation

1. This is the way I looked when I decided to try to get into better shape. I was 165lbs @ 25% body fat, skinny fat guy.- 2. This picture was taken one year later (ignore the sun burn), I had joined a gym and saw no change after 3 months of working out with the cookie cutter program the gym gave me. Since
I saw no change I quit the gym and started taking Kung Fu classes. The Kung Fu classes consisted of lots of cardio and body weight exercises. This brought my body to 147lbs at 15%
body fat. - 3. After 2 years on my journey to a better me I joined a gym again, this time I read as much as I could about weight training and nutrition. With my “limited” new found knowledge I managed to
get up to 165lbs at 12-13% body fat. - 4. After 3 years I learned more about how my body reacted to weight training and various diet approaches. At this point I hit 170lbs @ 9% body fat, No matter how much I tried I couldn't get any
leaner without losing massive amounts of lean mass. - 5. My 4th and 5th year of training lead to significant gains in lean mass through supplementation and a great training partner. At this point I was up to 195lbs at 12% body fat. My weight would
fluctuate from 195lbs (bulking) and 170lbs (cutting) but I still couldn't manage to get under 9% body fat and would lose as much as 15lbs of lean mass in the process. - 6. Finally, after 6 years of trial and error I finally became certified as a Fitness Trainer through ISSA. This new found knowledge enabled me to achieve the low body fat levels I always
wanted without losing any lean mass in the process. In this picture I weighed 172lbs @ 3.5% body fat.
Six years, that's how long it took to figure my body out as well as refine my weight training and nutrition approach. Today I am amazed at
how fast I can get clients to change knowing how long it took me. This shows how much time and frustration can be saved by working with
someone that has “been there and done that”.
Today, 17 years later, I maintain a body weight around 180lbs and a body fat level ranging from 3.5-6% year round with ease. Since
developing the Emerge Lifestyle approach maintaining a lean body year round is no longer a dream but a reality.
