Lean Burger
I am making about the leanest beef burger you can have, I have written about eye of round before informing you about how it is just about as lean as a skinless chicken breast, this is the cut of beef I am going to use. I have ground it up myself in my food processor; you can do the same or have your butcher grind it for you. This burger recipe is pretty basic and you can jazz it up by going crazy with different spices.
1.5lbs of Ground Eye of Round
¼ Red Onion chopped
4 Cloves of Garlic minced
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 Whole Egg beaten
½ tbsp Salt
½ tbsp Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
In a bowl combine all ingredients and mix well, divide mixture into four (6oz) and form into 1 inch thick patties. I like to crack a bit more pepper on each side of the burgers before grilling. Place on hot grill (I always use a hot grill) and grill for 5 minutes then flip and grill for another 5 minutes. Since I have ground up a small roast I can actually have the meat any doneness that I want, you only have to well cook hamburger as it can come from one animal source so cook it more or less depending on your taste.
This burger (without bun and condiments) has 37.5g of Protein, 1.5g of Carbohydrates and 7g of Fat. To reduce the fat by a gram use two egg whites instead of a whole egg.
